About Us

The Paperback Playhouse is an educational play space for children with a focus on studio art, children’s literacy, sensory exploration, and dramatic play.

Paperback offers both social and educational opportunities for parents and caregivers. From our cozy seating to our complementary beverage station and friendly staff we hope to be a comfortable home away from home. Our mission is to create a sense of community for local families.

Interested in being a Play Host?

In this role, you will:

  • Warmly greet and check-in visitors to ensure a smooth start to their playtime.

  • Actively engage with all guests to build relationships with families visiting our space, becoming a friendly and familiar face

  • Educate customers about our offerings; play area admissions, birthday parties, special events, memberships, classes and workshops, as well as retail, snack, and beverage offerings

  • Perform dramatic readings and organize child friendly art projects regularly

  • Help maintain an enjoyable play environment by regularly picking up toys and putting away unwanted supplies

  • Monitor the play area and engage with guests to ensure safety protocols and play area rules are respected by all

  • Regularly organize and straighten products in our retail space so that it stays neat and tidy

  • Help maintain our high standard for cleanliness across the entire facility, including the beverage cart, nursing/pumping space, and restrooms

  • Serve as a party host on an as-needed basis depending on scheduling needs and availability.

Role Requirements:

  • Must have weekday and/or weekend availability

  • Prior work experience in hospitality, early childhood education, or another related field is highly preferred. Training will be provided for all positions.

  • A warm, friendly and helpful demeanor, especially when interacting with children and caregivers

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once while maintaining a positive mindset and confidence in a busy environment

  • Growth mindset and desire to learn new skills on the job

The ideal hire is responsible, reliable, loves spending time with children and interacting with visitors, has strong leadership skills, and is comfort working in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and desire to provide a high-quality event experience for our host families and their guests

  • Organize materials needed for each party prior to the event to ensure a smooth setup process.

  • Setup and breakdown of party area before and after each party

  • Keep parties on schedule, ensuring setup, cleanup, and the party itself are delivered on our timed schedule

Paperback Parties are hosted on on Friday and Saturday evenings, and throughout Sundays. Additional working hours may be required for party planning, setup and cleanup.
